The East Troy Community Band was brought back to life in 2002 by Jay and Heidi Huenink. In three short years the membership grew from 27 members to over 45 musicians. The 2017 FREE summer series includes four concerts and three guest groups for a total of seven events on the Village Square. The Band is now a 501c3 non-profit organization, and has a board made up of a mixture of the director, musicians, community members and East Troy village officials. The group strives to have fun and involve community musicians to provide quality family entertainment to Walworth County, while educating the public in the traditions of the Community Band.
Jay Huenink, the group’s director, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Education from UW-Milwaukee. Jay also conducted the South Milwaukee Municipal Band and currently conducts the New Berlin Community Band. He has also performed throughout the Milwaukee area on bass guitar in several professional bands.
