Welcome to our New Director, Nick Bertino

We are excited to announce our new band director, Nick Bertino!

Nick Bertino is the current high school band director for the East Troy School District. At the high school, he leads the concert band, marching band, pep band, jazz band, and pit orchestra. Alongside his performing groups, Nick teaches music theory and jazz history in general music classes for all High School students.

At his previous position, Nick led a 5th-12th grade band program in Pittsville, WI from 2019 to June of 2022. During his time in the Pittsville school district, he successfully rebuilt the band program by creating a drumline, jazz band, and jazz combos that are still maintained in the Pittsville band department.

Nick Bertino earned his bachelor’s degree of instrumental music education at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. During his time in Whitewater, he studied clarinet with Dr. Christian Ellenwood who is a prestigious clarinet player and composer. After college, Nick performed with many community bands while teaching. He played the clarinet with the Marshfield Hub City Winds, Marshfield Hub City Orchestra, Marshfield Woodwind Quintet, and the Reedsburg Community Band.

Nick looks forward to continuing his career as a conductor and musician throughout his life. He is inspired by the interpretation of music and how it can affect each one of our lives.

Welcome, Nick!

Honoring Jay Huenink’s 20 Years of Service to the East Troy Community Band

THANKS SO MUCH for joining us on Jay’s last directing season with the East Troy Community Band!

He has served as our director for 20 years (2002-2022) and is retiring after this concert season. He will be missed!

To honor his service to the Band, we are collecting donations to place a bench with a plaque on the East Troy Village Square.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please consider donating to the Band, specifying that the donation is for Jay’s Honorarium, or by supporting our GoFundMe.

THANK YOU!

2020 Season Canceled

From The East Troy Community Band Board, and Jay & Heidi:

We hope you are all healthy and coping with all the shut-downs. It’s a very difficult time for performing musicians.

Our 2020 Season is canceled.

**We need to keep our audience safe.

**The schools have all facilities closed through June 30th, maybe until school re-opening in the fall.

Perhaps we’ll meet you on the Square for a beer across the room…

Until next summer,

Your ETCB Board.

Update on Summer 2020 Rehearsal Plans

There will be NO rehearsals in May.

I’m sure you’re asking, “Will we be able to play at all this season?  (So are we!)

Lots of “what if’s.”

IF the stay-at-home order is lifted…. IF we can find an alternate rehearsal location –school districts orders are to be closed for the entire school year which (I was told by a principal) means through June 30th.

IF the parks & rec department says the “parks” are open…. IF our audience will even come out, or will people still be too fearful?

How do we even play as a band IF the social distancing is in effect? (probably not.)

Stay tuned, give us your thoughts! (Use the form under the Contact Us tab!)

Heidi & Jay Huenink

COVID-19 Update

Status of our 2020 ETCB Season: Our two “unknowns” at this point are:
1. Safety 2. School Rehearsal Room Availability.

Rehearsals will NOT be starting May 7th (Due to COVID-19). Please keep checking back as to the status of our summer concert series.
